Microsoft is adding a low-code/no-code business solution for Power BI in SharePoint. The company announced the preview of the Power BI report Web Part. This new solution is designed to help users embed Power BI reports into SharePoint with any programming required.
“Transforming business processes is critical to unlocking the productivity possible with Office 365,” wrote Chris McNulty, senior product manager at Microsoft, in a blog post. “Building a great business app can include three components: interface, automation, and visualization. The Web Part allows you to paste a URL to an existing Power BI report on modern pages, alongside our other modern Web Parts. Thus, your reports will display on browsers and [on] the enhanced SharePoint mobile application for Windows, Android, and iOS.”
This new solution is still in early preview, and is expected to receive more enhancements from Microsoft as it continues to transform business processes. Features include the ability to fit reports into a page, the ability to select which page to load, whether to show filter pane or page navigation, and aspect ratio. In addition, it works with SharePoint Online’s new authentication features, enabling single sign-on.
The Web Part will start rolling out this month to First Release customers. Production customers can expect the update later this year.
