K2 releases new updates, continues to empower customers to digitally transform their business processes

Sep 22, 2016 12:04:05 PM

K2 Software today announced new capabilities for K2 Mobile, K2 management, K2 Rest Service and Microsoft SharePoint 2016. These updates are available both on- premises via blackpearl 4.7 and in the cloud via Appit.

K2 delivers value for customers with business process application management efficiency gains of over $750,000 for a composite organization based on customer interviews according to a recent commissioned Total Economic Impact™ (TEI) study conducted by Forrester Consulting. Using K2 blackpearl as its enterprise business process application standard, the organization consolidated and centralized its business processes onto a single, holistic tool, improving its efficiency in supporting, managing, optimizing and troubleshooting its business process-oriented applications. Additional benefits can be found in the complete Forrester TEI study here.

Here's how K2's latest release delivers value for customers:

K2 Mobile
K2 continues to increase investments in its mobile platform. New features for K2 Mobile for iOS help customers remain productive while on the go with the following new enhancements:

  • Barcode controls enable organizations to digitally transform their business processes by leveraging K2 Mobile. For example, customers can scan a UPC or SKU to prepopulate information on a K2 form, making it easy to capture data for inventory management, asset tracking or incident management.
  • Image annotation lets users mark up and add notes to images and attach them to forms for further explanation when using the K2 Mobile App, thus improving the quality of information shared and ultimately speeding up resolutions.

Proactive diagnosis before deploying SmartForms and views
K2 improves Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) by providing proactive, real-time impact analysis on changes made to SmartForms and views during the design stage, all without any architectural changes or coding. ALM provides visual indicators to inform you that you are missing required data fields, controls, control properties and rules. Notifications provide the option to keep or remove dependencies as you see fit. ALM also analyzes dependencies on check-in, and allows for correction or cloning to avoid errors in deployment.

K2 Management
K2 Management offers a centralized, intuitive user interface for configuring and managing of an organization's K2-based applications. Administrators can centrally manage all the workflows, methods, user rights, security, roles, worklists, authorization settings and more. K2 Management also allows administrators the ability to view, run and test SmartObjects quickly and easily, as well as identify process errors and repair those errors with ease. Lastly, administrators can manage their users' ongoing tasks and schedule workflow processes.

K2 REST Service now available for blackpearl
A short time ago we shared updates for Appit, including support for REST. The new K2 REST broker with Swagger support makes integration with net new or legacy systems easy. REST is now available for blackpearl on-premises customers as well. To find out more about how customers are using REST, please see the following case study.

Microsoft SharePoint 2016
K2 now supports SharePoint 2016 and adds key enhancements to performance, forms rules, modern SharePoint lists and registering web applications, which dramatically simplify the application registration and activation management for the K2 app.

"K2's low code apps platform allows SharePoint users to build process apps in both cloud and on-premises environments without coding," said Rob Howard, director of Office Ecosystem, Microsoft Corp.  "K2's deeply integrated, reusable workflows reinforce SharePoint as a one-stop-shop for intelligent collaboration from any device."

K2 increases customer productivity with latest mobile, DocuSign and cloud updates

Jul 5, 2016 12:49:49 PM

K2 Software today announced new capabilities to its cloud service, Appit, and outlined plans for future cloud-first offerings. Customers will find enhancements to K2 Mobile, introduction of SmartStarters, deeper DocuSign integration and a new REST broker with Swagger compatibility. These updates will become available for on-premises customers this summer.

K2 Mobile

K2 Mobile for Android now includes offline functionality that enables users to view and action their tasks from anywhere, increasing productivity by allowing users to delegate, check process status, redirect, accept, reject, or send for revisions in real time. In addition, a new Universal App for Windows devices is now available, bringing full support for iOS, Android and Windows-based devices.

To help customers reduce the IT backlog, K2 has simplified system connectivity through its patented K2 SmartObjects, which creates identities around data sets and workflows, allowing better access and integration across systems. In addition, K2 has simplified mobile app development significantly by allowing any business process app or form built in K2 to be fully mobile, enabled and optimized with very minimal IT support.

K2 SmartStarters

Further enhancing its already strong capabilities in low code app development, K2 has created SmartStarters to help app creators users build new apps quickly by providing simple example apps created by K2 that are fully functional and include template forms, workflows, actions and data integration via K2 SmartObjects. K2 supports reusability of its forms, workflows and SmartObjects so app creators can easily leverage a component many times across their portfolio of business applications.

DocuSign

Digital signatures now embed directly into K2 SmartForms, which enables editing, uploading and management of documents, creation and management of DocuSign envelopes, define signature placeholder tabs, and signing recipient details. By using K2 and DocuSign together, customers can easily and quickly capture signatures inside their apps while maintaining visibility into the process at all times, including a full audit trail of the signing steps.

"Although accelerating mobile app deployment is a critical step in our customers' digital transformation, the best way to unlock business value is to allow our customers to quickly complete any type of business contract/transaction that includes a document using digital signatures," said Adriaan Van Wyk, CEO of K2. "K2 customers can now create business process apps that have embedded digital signature integration through DocuSign, which lets their users stay in the app and be more productive."

K2 REST Service

The K2 REST service now includes a REST Broker with Swagger support for modern web APIs, making it easier to integrate K2 forms and workflows across systems and cloud services, streamlining the business application creation process.

K2 Cloud Platform

Looking toward the future, K2 will continue to innovate in low code, automating business process with apps and cloud-first development. Appit has realized over 200 percent growth in net new customers since June of last year, demonstrating that the demand for K2 cloud services is showing positive traction.

"We believe there is a unique intersection at the convergence of Business Process Applications and low code that will disrupt the classic BPM market," added Van Wyk. "Apps for process automation are most efficient when the best of both low code and BPM come together, and the ability to deliver the K2 platform more broadly in the cloud will help even more of our customers stay ahead of the curve."

The K2 Cloud Platform will bring full functionality to integrate across systems, a new app design experience and new solutions that will become available on top of the K2 Cloud Platform in the future. Customers interested in participating in the K2 Cloud Platform Limited Preview program can sign up here and a local sales rep will be in touch.
