Ask SharePoint & Office 365 Experts Anything

Join us on the evening of Tuesday August 28 for a 1:1 discussion with experts in the SharePoint community as we hold a combined SharePoint User Group meeting for the entire New England region. Speakers from the SPTechCon Conference as well as other Microsoft and MVP attendees will take your questions in an informal setting.

This is a great opportunity to have a conversation with people in the community you may recognize, but not know.

The setting will be informal, with people available throughout the meeting room. The format will be sort of similar to speed dating – every ten minutes, we'll ask everyone to move on to someone else to keep things interesting.

  • The Document Circle of Life in Office 365

Thursday, January 25, 2018 Matt Wade

Two of the most frequently asked questions I get when it comes to SharePoint and the Office 365 realm are:

  • A practical guide to SharePoint permissions

Friday, January 05, 2018 Matt Wade

SharePoint permissions can be complicated. Whether you’re brand new to site ownership or a seasoned vet, keeping permissions as simple as possible is always a best practice. It will keep you from losing your mind.

  • With every iteration of the SharePoint Server platform, there are new features and functionality that administrators must learn about. But every now and then, instead of introducing something entirely new, Microsoft goes in the opposite direction and revisits the ability to better reflect customer needs. Such is the case with User Profile Synchronization in SharePoint Server 2016.

As organizations move systems and processes from predominantly on-premises environments to cloud-based applications and platforms, they often fail to fully understand the impacts these changes have on their existing processes and IT operations. For example, your legacy administration tools may offer an “upgrade” to the vendor’s cloud version, yet it lacks feature parity. Reporting and executive dashboards may require an overhaul, as your new SaaS platform does not provide the same level of granularity as your legacy system.

Future planning requires a thorough understanding of what is in place today. Creating a baseline of your current systems is an important aspect to tracking the success of any future changes – and it should include comparison data from other organizations in the community, and within your industry. On the topics of governance, security, and compliance, that’s exactly what we’re trying to provide: a baseline for Office 365 customers.
