Here Is Why Businesses Prefer Hybrid SharePoint Deployment

Asif Rehmani

Businesses are migrating to SharePoint 2016. Among the most attractive factors are the new hybrid capabilities.

Organizations can choose either SharePoint On-premises or SharePoint Online; but they prefer both as a hybrid deployment.

To understand the reason, we first need to know the things that lead to that preference.

What is hybrid?

The word "hybrid? has been thrown around a lot lately. Let's explain what it means in the context of SharePoint. When we say "SharePoint Hybrid deployment?, we mean the integrated deployment of SharePoint On-Premises and SharePoint Online. Specifically, SharePoint On-Premises can be either SharePoint Server 2013 or SharePoint Server 2016, and SharePoint Online built in with Office 365. Remember. SharePoint Server can be hosted in either a cloud hosting service or your own data center.

Hybrid SharePoint simply means: SharePoint On-premises linked to SharePoint Online.

The key factor that leads organizations to prefer SharePoint Hybrid is that SharePoint On-Premises and SharePoint Online are different in many areas.

Some of these areas include the User Interface, the capabilities, and the potential for customization. Many customizations that you build in SharePoint On-Premises cannot be migrated to SharePoint Online.

Some of the new capabilities in SharePoint Server 2016 are just too indispensable that, for many organizations, it doesn't make business sense to go fully cloud. If you are looking for a faster way to help your team master these new features, try VisualSP Help System.

This disparity in features is what prevents organizations from choosing one version of SharePoint over the other. So, the need to have both in a hybrid deployment remains.

In the video below, Vlad Catrinescu explains in details why businesses prefer Hybrid SharePoint.
