  • If you need another reason to attend SPTechCon in Boston this year, the Office 365 Hands-On Challenge is definitely a good one. This full-day, pre-conference experience will bring together Office 365 newbies and veterans alike to build real-world solutions for a local state university.

Think of it like a hack-athon, but for Office 365 users of all skill levels. (That is to say, real people… not just hackers).

Plymouth State University of New Hampshire, a state-run, non-profit university, is in need of better ways to run some of its business processes. You'll be teamed up with a diverse group of conference goers to help take Plymouth to the next step in collaboration, automation, and adoption within their Office 365 ecosystem.

  • End-users rarely start and continue using SharePoint and Office 365 on their own; strategic efforts are needed from both the IT team and the executive team in general.

To increase SharePoint and Office 365 usage and improve adoption, leadership from every department has to get involved. The most effective step in this initiative is to follow adoption-friendly habits that employees can duplicate. If team members observe certain working habits from the leadership, they are more likely to imitate.

The era of cloud computing era ushered in by Software as a Service (SaaS) has tremendous appeal and benefits for document and data management. However, because it lends itself to the storage of decentralized data, this can lead to users to an experience of data fragmentation, and inefficient information retrieval. Integrating disparate data sources into a searchable and coherent whole has brought its own challenges.

  • Skyhigh Networks, the Cloud Security and Enablement Company, today announced comprehensive support for the recently announced Microsoft Graph, enabling businesses to seamlessly extend security, compliance and governance controls from data across the entire Microsoft Office 365 offering. Microsoft Graph opens multiple APIs from the Microsoft intelligent cloud through a single REST API endpoint. With this integration, Skyhigh for Office 365 now provides coverage for productivity applications with data from the API, including users, groups, organizational contacts, files, folders, mail, insights and relationships.

  • The results are in from the CollabTalk/BYU Marriott School of Business survey on hybrid SharePoint, and a few numbers jump out as being somewhat startling.

Hybrid is a word that sounds old, but it’s part of the new way Microsoft is looking at taking its SharePoint customers to the Office 365 cloud.

That was the message from Arpan Shah, Microsoft’s senior director of technical product management for Office 365, right before he delivered his keynote to about 500 SharePoint professionals gathered here in Austin, Texas, for the SPTechCon conference.

  • With Office 365 enabling Microsoft to deliver changes and updates more frequently, it’s becoming difficult to stay on top of everything. With each release, some things get better, and some things change—often, NOT for the better.

What’s a SharePointer to do? How can he or she possibly hope to stay on top of all that’s new?
