Bamboo Cloud Part Web Parts and the Modern Experience: Support for SPFx

by: Rob Manfredi 29 May 2019

SharePoint was due for a face lift and 2019 brought it in spades.   While many technical limitation exist in the new Modern experience that leave clients scratching their head “why would it not do that?”, we have seen overwhelming adoption of this new experience and tons of requests for our product to work within it.  So we asked ourselves, “How do we make our products (that we have been developing for the past 24 months) work in this new strange land? ” The answer, of course, is to make your products compliant with the SharePoint Framework also known as SPFx.

Here is how Microsoft describes the Modern Experience and the SPFx on their docs site:

  • The Modern experience in SharePoint is designed to be compelling, flexible and more performant. The modern experience makes it easier for anyone to create beautiful, dynamic sites and pages that are mobile-ready.
  • The SharePoint Framework (SPFx) is a page and extension model that enables client-side development for building SharePoint experiences. It facilitates easy integration with the SharePoint data and provides support for open source tooling development.

Well, after months of working on this, our super smart engineers, some great beta customers along with some help from our favorite MVP, we finally got it right!

We are super excited about the level of interest in adding our products to this Modern experience.    Every Cloud Part, except Parent-Child which is more of a behind the scenes solution, is now ready to be installed and configured on both SharePoint Classic sites and the new Modern experience using SPFx Framework.

One known limitation (based on limitation in SPFx) is that these products will not work on IE11 browsers, there is just no way around it.  All other modern browsers are supported.   Want to give it a try? Simply request a trial from our contact form.
